Description

I had a work assignment in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, so I took advantage of being in the area and hiked to Red Hill above Carbondale, Colorado.  There is a large trailhead parking lot right at the corner of Highway 82 and Highway 133.  I started on the Ruthie's Run Trail for a short time before reaching the Mushroom Rock Trail which took me to the top.  The are no views from the actual summit of Red Hill because of trees; however, there are several scenic points on the trail near the edge of cliffs where there are very good views up and down the Roaring Fork Valley.  It took me 30 minutes to reach the summit and 20 minutes to return to the trailhead.
