Description
This was really more of an afternoon stroll rather than a hike. It was also an excuse to get out of the house, wear my new hiking pants, and add two obscure mountains to my peak list. Mount Pence and Snyder Mountain are located to the east of four peaks I already did this spring... Papoose Mountain, Squaw Mountain, Hicks Mountain, and Mount Judge. These two summits are less than a half mile from the Sinton Road in opposite directions. Pence actually had a trail for a short distance while Snyder was cross country through the trees.
It was a short day given the statistics, but I was unsure about heading to the high county with the snow storm we had this week. As a result, I just tagged these two easy mountains for a quick trip on this Saturday. The drive was about an hour from my residence and total hiking time was less than an hour. Both peaks had a small jar for a summit register.
