Description

On June 2, 2026, I hiked to Lookout Mountain, which is a low peak that sits above the town of Del Norte, Colorado.  On June 27, 2026, I hiked to School Hill, which is a really low summit that sits above the town of New Salem, North Dakota.  Mount Medaris is a low peak that sits above New Castle, Colorado, so I decided to hike to this mountain also.  It was on the Lists of John and peakbagger websites, so I added it to my peak list.

I had a work assignment in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, so I took advantage of being in the area and hiked to Mount Medaris.  It was a really short hike with limited elevation gain, but the weather was wet, cold, and breezy, so this summit was perfect for after work as the daylight continues to get shorter and shorter.  It is an easy hike next to the interstate, but I did see four deer near the trailhead.
