Description
I had only been out climbing once so far this season, and my daughter had not been out at all this year. We planned a quick trip, and two of her friends wanted to give it a try also. Riley and Cat rented the requisite gear and the four of us headed to Vail, Colorado, for the morning. I thought Firehouse Falls would be a good option for me to lead an easy route and them to get on reasonable WI-3/4 ice for their first time ice climbing.
We were the first party to the climb, although several parties showed up shortly after us. Most of the other climbers were guided clients so we shared the ice and had a good morning each getting several laps in. Kennedy, Cat, and Riley did a great job for being relatively new to the sport. We finished up early and were back at the trailhead by noon. We stopped in Georgetown, Colorado, for some food and a quick pint before returning to Denver, Colorado.
