Description

With the roads closed at Kenosha Pass and Vail Pass, any dreams of ice climbing this particular day were quickly crushed.  As a consolation, I hiked to the summit of Mount Falcon in the foothills on the way back home.  I had been to the summit of this peak several times from the west trailhead; however, I never added it to my peak list as it is a really short hike from that point.  On this hike I started at the east trailhead, which makes reaching the summit a bit more challenging.  There is a great trail all the way to the lookout on the top of the peak.  The Castle Trail gets a significant amount of hiking and biking traffic.
