Description

In an attempt to further delay the start of my rock climbing season, I talked Jeff into going back to the Firehouse in Vail, Colorado, for a final day of ice climbing in 2011.  In fact, the weather in the Front Range was not conducive to rock climbing so Jeff really didn't have much of a choice if he wanted to get out.  This would mark the first time we ice climbed in the month of May.  We each led a different line on the West Slab and weren't too excited about the ice conditions.  You had to clean a lot of snow and rotten ice to get to good screw placements.  As a result, we ended up setting up a top rope on a steep line in Firehouse West for a couple of laps before calling it a day.
