Description

I was working in western Colorado for a couple of weeks and was surprised to find the amount of recreation Grand Junction, Colorado, offers.  One night I hiked into Rattlesnake Canyon to view a large concentration of arches, and another night I hiked the Monument Trail into the Colorado National Monument.  This monument is a large rock pinnacle that has been featured in Chevy commercials.  Mount Garfield is actually a small summit that sits above Palisade, Colorado.  Since this is an actual named peak with a relatively difficult grade, I decided to add it to my peak list.  I don't have a lot to say about this hike other than it is difficult and offers some great views of the valley, mesa, and Grand Junction, Colorado.  I made it up in 45 minutes, spent 10 minutes on top, and came down in 30 minutes.
