Description

This is the ninth year in a row that I've made a climbing trip to Ouray, Colorado, with a group of friends.  For the past several years, we've rented a house and had a fun long weekend of climbing, eating, and cocktails.  After climbing No Thoroughfare Falls and up at Camp Bird Road, the Jeffs and I decided to make our way back up to Dexter Creek Slabs, which has been a climb we have hit on a regular basis during this trip in order to get out of the ice park.  The avalanche danger was once again considerable so we weren't willing to climb any of the gullies near Silverton, Colorado.

We ended up pitching out a couple of lower-angle sections because of new snow, but ended up doing the climb similarly to previous years.  It started snowing on us half way up the route, which added a somewhat alpine feel to the day.  Jeff Kunkle took pitch 1, Jeff Shafer took pitch 2, I took pitch 3, and Jeff Shafer finished pitch 4.  We got down in three long rappels.  We quickly made our way back to the house for dinner, hot tub, and a beverage.
