Description

Jeff, Dan, and I drove up I-70 for a few quick laps on Silverplume Falls.  We were the first group to the ice, but is was busy all day.  Since the ice has a short drive, short approach, and is relatively easy climbing it ends up seeing a lot of traffic.  I led the center of the flow and set up a top rope so we could all get in several laps.  As the day progressed, I was able to lead the right side a couple more times, and Jeff did a sport lead.  This was only Dan's second time ice climbing, so he worked on swings and footwork.  The left side of the ice wasn't real filled in and didn't offer that good of climbing.  The center of the flow had a lot of cauliflower ice with good steps for easy climbing.  The right side was the best climbing with short sections of vertical ice but good rest stances in between.  The right was fun and a great section to practice leading.  No one was real camera happy, so we didn't take many photos throughout the morning.
