Description

Jeff and Don were trying to put together a trip for the Notch Couloir on Longs Peak.  Scott had also shown interest in the climb.  Despite the questionable forecast, I convinced everyone to make an attempt.  Well the weather and conditions were really poor and we basically went on a hike with a lot of gear to the base of the Diamond near Chasm Lake.  I think we were all disappointed, but we were also confident in our decision not to even start up Lambs Slide.  As we contemplated our decision at the base of Lamb Slide, the spin drift and small sloughs were fairly consistently pouring down Alexanders Chimney, Stettners Ledges, the Notch Couloir, and Kieners.  I got up at 11:30, we were hiking at 2:00 from the Longs Peak trailhead, and we were back at the trailhead by 8:00.  After getting home around 10:00, I decided to salvage the day and went mountain biking for two hours in the early afternoon.
