Description

To get to Bottleneck Lake you need to drive north of Sandpoint, Idaho, to Naples, Idaho, head west from there, and go by the Deep Creek Resort.  I am told that this is where all of the FBI agents stayed during the Ruby Ridge incident.  On the way to the trail head, there is a short hike into Snow Falls which I have done on a couple occasions now with family and friends.  This particular day was actually very overcast and rainy, and we even contemplated continuing on after we got a few miles up the trail.  We decided we should stop complaining and hike onward.  It wasn't a difficult hike, but it did get wet and marshy in some places on the trail.  The grade was gradual until you got to about one mile from the lake where it increased some.  Bottleneck Lake is located in a granite cirque, and if the weather had permitted, we would have scrambled up to Bottleneck Peak for more views.
