Description

Kevin couldn't get out over the upcoming weekend, so we headed up to the Stevens Gulch Trailhead for Grays and Torreys Peak on the morning of Thanksgiving to climb a short pitch of ice above the parking lot.  We just saw a photo of it posted on Mountain Project and thought it looked like a fun route.  The road to the trailhead is open all the way with little difficulty and the approach is super short too.  Our vehicle was the only one in the lot when we first got there, which is probably some sort of record given the traffic that is usually in this area.  The pitch is probably 70 to 80 feet long and has short vertical sections with good rest spots in between.  Since the route is a narrow ribbon and the ice was fairly thin in a few spots, it was a bit harder than expected.  My early season arms and recently broken wrist probably didn't make things easier.
