Description

Kennedy, Brian, and I were able to get one more late season day of ice climbing in at Lincoln Falls. It had been roughly three years since I climbed at this location, and it was the first time for Kennedy. We were able to climb the main gully a couple of times to provide Kennedy some exposure to both multi-pitch climbing and climbing with three people and two ropes. There was a short section of ice right at the beginning of the gully and another right at the top, but otherwise there was a lot of snow climbing.

We arrived at the Montgomery Reservoir Trailhead at 9:45 am with one party of two climbers already up at the base of the climb. Brian was leading up the gully within an hour, and we actually ended up making it to the top of the two-pitch climb before the other two climbers. We walked off the climb to skiers left and did another lap up the gully switching leads. In order to get Kennedy some more practice, we decided to rappel the route after climbing it the second time. We caught a quick glissade down the steeper section of the approach hike and were back at the vehicle by 2:15 pm.
